I wonder if we’ll find out if all the parents except one at this school are still driving their kids to school every day. Or if all the bus drivers will actually have to work.
Isn’t the barbwire section atop the chain link fence in panel #2 angled in the wrong direction? Wouldn’t the barbwire be more effective in keeping trespassers out if it was angled out, not inwards toward the structure it’s protecting? It would be harder to climb over the barbed-wire section if it were angled towards the person.
Perhaps Lena is trying to keep the inmates from escaping. Better close the gate and man the guard towers.
At last, the cosmic balance has been restored to the Funkyverse and we’re back to a single Crankshaft comic per day. Alas, Ed failed to bring anything resembling a punchline with him, just the promise of yet another “Lena is a lousy bowler but everyone would rather insult her behind her back that help her improve her game” storyline. Still, at least it’s not Silver Age comic books.
So… one comment already removed… let’s try for two.
I still want to know what are the “new challenges” facing Ed and the bus drivers in the new school year. They still aren’t in the classroom, they still don’t write the curriculum… so what are the challenges? A shortage of mailboxes? Maybe increasing public pressure to stop wasting money on bus drivers, since we were told in the spring that all the students now get driven to school by their parents (I assume because they don’t trust the bus drivers with their children’s safety)?

… by the way, does anyone see where my bowling ball went after I missed that 10-pin spare last year and lost the play-off?

Maybe it’s me, but the punchline should have been something related to their job. Bowling does not seem to fit that category.

And I thought it would be a “right foot” on the gas pedal joke…
