He’s talking funny and he’s only smiling with one side of his face. Maybe he’s about to have the stroke that puts him in Bedsore Manor. That would be the next logical step in Batiuk’s effort to turn this strip into a Funky Winkerbean revival.

It’s funny because Pmm didn’t mention the film is “The King’s Speech.”

“Pam, invite the grandkids in! It’s for kids, so I bet they’ll love this cartoon! It’s called ‘Akira’! Then we can all watch another family cartoon, ‘Watership Down’!”

Mr. Crankshaft’s right hand sure did swell up in panel three. It’s a good thing since the remote got bigger.

Interesting that Mr. Crankshaft’s family and friends never seem to laugh at his garbled wit. Today, Ms. Pam has her arms crossed and a look of irritation on her face. For Yesterday’s bear “joke” it was a look of concern and bewilderment. This “humor” doesn’t even resonate with the characters within the comic strip. Just an observation.

Me too…..

Some films are better sub-titled than dubbed. Like all of Studio Ghibli. Except Porco Rosso. It’s better in French with Jean Reno as Marco (Porco). And The Cat Returns with Anne Hathaway. The choices made for dubbing casts ranges from bad to execrable with few notable exceptions. And now in the age of DVD and Blu-Ray we can choose just about any combination depending on the studio producing the movie and the intended audience, like Spanish (Catalan) voice with French subtitles. (We sometimes do that and we’ll switch voices and subbing as my Spanish is better than hers, but her French is better than mine.) Or whatever. YMMV (Return of the Jedi in French is sublime. As is the New Dune).

Haha! (＾▽＾) Me too! Especially when in some cases they rely on CC to sub it instead of putting it on the screen themselves. The other day I watched a movie called Lion, but couldn’t really enjoy the parts that took place in India cause the CC didn’t work.
