The Western PA Conservancy has been planting thousands of native trees in the City of Pittsburgh. Last week a bunch that lined a trail along the river beside our stadiums disappeared. Yep. Beavers enjoying city life next to where the three rivers meet. Nature is nothing if not adaptable and resilient.
I can relate to Alice and Beni today. Natural appreciation for something just because of its good form and potential usefulness. The result, of course, is that you collect too many examples of it, “just in case”.
