If a kid is old enough to read, he or she generally should not be read to. I can’t help but wonder if the question of the day will be… Illiterate? To which my answer would be, “Maybe, maybe not.”
For anyone who wants to hear a hilarious recitation of this, here’s Dr. Jim Henry, a music educator, director of one of the greatest barbershop choruses in the world, and a two-time international barbershop quartet contest winner. No singing here, just a really funny bit.
[Sumner answers the phone while the girls are at a Christmas party]Richard Sumner: Hello? Santa Claus’s reindeer? Uh, why yes I can… let’s see, there’s Dopey, Sneezy, Grouchy, Happy, Sleepy, uh Rudolph, and Blitzen! You’re welcome! (from the classic Desk Set)
Well – everyone who thinks it’s bad that Elliot is read to should never watch TV or listen to the radio or something similar when there’s a book on the subject.
Elliot is comfortably tugged in (by his parents), happy and sleepy – reading himself would keep him awake until he falls asleep with the lights on which isn’t good for the quality of his sleep.
Go make your own coffee and never let anyone else cook for you.

Isn’t the kid a little old for a bedtime story. Even if it’s a Christmas one.

My father used to get mixed up between Santa’s reindeer and Snowhite’s dwarfs!

It’s the thought. However, if you fly with just one wing, you will just go in circles….
