In grade school, my teacher said that rain showers in Hawaii are just like taking a shower, and people don’t mind. I didn’t know what she meant until I went there, and it was like being forced to take a shower with your clothes on. Maybe it’s better if you’re in swimming attire. There wasn’t much beach up at the Iao Needle.
People took “self-portraits” with cameras for decades before there were camera phones. They spent a little time doing it because they cared about the results. Now the Internet is littered with “junk photos” of people feeding their cats or standing with their backs to scenery.
I honestly expected that last panel to turn into an elevator gag. :)
When my son was 2 he would scream if I tried to clean him up in the shower. One summer day he was happily running through the lawn sprinkler. I told him that if he were able to play in the sprinkler, then he is able to take a shower. He stopped, stood still, thought about it, and said ,"Okay ".

This is actually quite smart; you can’t adjust the temperature of the rain, and you can’t shut it off when you’re finished.

Some say, “Goodbye” and I say, “Hello, hello, helloooooo”
I see a horse there
And I want it painted black…
(OK, OK, that’s not the Beatles but don’t throw a (rolling) stone at me…)
If the rain comes
They run and hide their heads
But they don’t mind that the shower’s wet…

I think the echo is working backwards… there is no escaping the shower.

In a rainstorm I run from my car to our community center so that I can go lap swimming.

I have never painted a selfie, but I’ve drawn them. Admittedly I was looking into my computer camera, so there was modern technology involved.
