Uh, I guess I fell asleep during the part where he went to the hospital and had a broken rib diagnosed…

This strip makes less sense each day. If they desired to dispatch the doc, why not blow up his house? He has set a precedent for it.

You can’t make this stuff up! Totally ridiculous that he gets away with this garbage.

To quote a certain lurker… Sigh.

Isn’t it about time for the second or third generations of Chester Gould’s bad guys to start surfacing? Now those were some good comics.

It seems our strip has, after a rare Sunday respite, slipped back into a “DIC VAN WINKLE” mode. That Sunday had been a first in the two years he had been writing the strip and it seemed like a final liberation from those stultifying “recaps”, a sort of writing “disease” that clung ONLY to Dick Tracy. Locher had finally mastered the technique on how everyone else managed to do it. But almost immediatly our man had a relapse and has transfered strip “snoozing” to the daily strips

Ludwig was right once again, no early response to that flashy 911 call on the Wrist Geenee. One panel today could have covered Noll’s “explanation” after the police had arrived. NAPerville IS Chicago’s version of Sleepy Hollow. Only thing is, the Headless Horseman left 3 weeks ago with his soft expletives deleated. As DIC’s 80th Birthday (June 4th), looms on the horizon, Matt who has “confessed” to being a bearer of gifts on these occassions, way wish to consider a NEW item in the Diet Smith Gift Shop. It’s a time-piece that carries a “fast forward” button and as a bonus, can deliver a sharp stick to the posterior on the third note of a “snore”, when someone holds a pen, while in an upright sitting position. Seems to me, that’s a lot more “constructive” than those emotionaly spiced “lectures” that can’t convincingly crack a test tube or a thin brace on Dr. Noll’s fragile chest !

To those readers that like to peek but don’t speak. my new symbol waves a BIG “HI”!

Wow, this story is worse than the last. What’s next, aliens from the sky? Oh boy.

    Nice comment Tracy… “bad perfume”

Does that mean that Tracy stinks also? After all, everyone was going to smell like Dick.

I think the good doctor Noll is refering to an explosion that occured prior to our meeting him.

Okay, let’s bend over backwards here for poor old Locher. We’ll say Noll never went for medical care; he just self-treated in a unique way.

After all, he is a ddoctor.

“This strip makes less sense each day. If they desired to dispatch the doc, why not blow up his house? He has set a precedent for it.”

What good would that do? He’s already proven that he can survive that kind of an explosion.

    “DDOCTOR”

On top of everything else, Dick has now developed a stuttering problem. Maybe he and Mel Tillis could make a record together.

Two days ago Chubsy observed: “Please note the CIA oaf STILL hasn’t been able to to locate Nubby. Every other person in the country knows where he is but him”. Possible REASON: Cos Grove, Groovy’s brother, (as I call him) is really not important to the story-line. Locher just uses him as a “filler”. That is, to take up space to slow down progress and/or to ramp up the “appearance” of serious danger, particularly, when there is no danger at all. Dont be surprised if “Cos” somewhat like Robots, just becomes another “slight-of-hand” anachronism, one not really germane to the story or to the future of the strip. In fact, looking at the Sunday page story ONLY, friend Cos takes up just THREE panels in those EIGHT pages and TWO of them were in December 2008. That’s a rough reflection of the character’s level of “importance” to the story. ie. Just a little padding, so to speak, My High school teacher used to call those insertions in derisive language, “Purple Passages”, they’re there just to fill up space and for BLAH-BLAH effect.

Odd thing is that the communications expert at HQ, Lt Teevo hasn’t advised Chief Lizz of the CIA search for Noll. Described as “He’s dangerous (and a bomber) and we can’t find him”. Possibly, because Locher himself can’t THINK of a relavant reason, one with enough “traction” to have that International Service interested in a home spun buffoon

Where is the llove for old DL? The old Doc still has a few tricks up his sleeve. We already know that Dr. Noll is prone to many explosions (which is why the CIA is looking for him). Obviously the brace is from a prior accident. I love Dick’s rapier wit in the last panel. Hilarious - I DID almost lose continence when I read that.

That’s what sets us apart. Your “love” is for “DL”, ours is for “Dick Tracy”. Just as yours should be. There you go again, in lock-step with the recently departed in using your immagination to concoct fallacious excuses (out of love?) to soothe away the over-load of D ick’s L oose (slack) work.

If you’re not Jefff … yyouu m must be hhiss’s twin bbrotherr. Even “DDOCTOR NOLLI” will agree. And after I even “remembered” to WAVE to your common cause pals! ;)

Do you think DL will lovingly stutter again tomorrow and that you may coo once more in the morning? ;)

All these things you clowns are criticizing are called “poetic license” something you guys will never know about. I like Tracy, it’s a shame that no newspapers will carry it, at least not where I live.

Roy, we all like DT also. The problem is we’re not getting the Tracy we grew up with or expected. There used to be a certain quality that is missing. So instead of reading this for the strip we’re mostly here for each others company and the comments.
