The King’s crown is acting as eyebrows in panel one.

    Tracey, you card!

Actually I’m sick of this whole plotline and this entire strip. I’m thinking of culling my comics choices and this is close to the top of my hit list.

I’ll bet Tracy’s going to put on the costume and really fool big ace. Great thinking! Good story!

That briefcase is awfully thin to be able to hold money. It’s as flat as Jackie who is still lying on the floor.

Naturally, Tracy thought it through and sent off Jack’s clown suit to the dry cleaners to get the blood out and bullet hole patched (tampering with evidence). And, as Ray C says, we’re back to the puns.

Mattie would give it two sighs.

Some things are puzzeling in this storyline. 1 ) The King owns a string of Casinos and leases them out . He is in the “business” but has never heard of Big Ace ! Odd !

    2) On the basis of a telephone call asking (One Eyed Jack) for his money, Tracy immediatly knows Big Ace is a bad guy, involved in the scam, “a leach”

How does he automatically arrive at that “conclusion”. How does he KNOW it’s not a normal loan that’s overdue ? What makes a request for payment a crime requireing an entrapment scheme?

Rather sloppy and “simplistic” ! But I guess if you are writing for kids any little nonsense can “pass” by as solid, acceptable writing and be suitably ” applauded by well conditioned devotees

Do I hear some verbose shouts of contrived approval and “applause” coming from Judy’s relative in Woodstock?

The overall “QUALITY” of the writing is atrocious. No policeman would ask a civilian for money. Especiallty one that just executed someone else right in front of the same policeman. Of course, OEJ is STILL bleeding out on the floor while Sam goes to the all you can eat buffet and Lizz and Teevo are at Dunkin Donuts talking about the weather.

BEYOND poor, this strip is on its last legs. And that is not saying much.

I completely agree with the negative comments, but I’ll have to add that I read Spiderman every day. It has about the same types of plot holes and irrational stuff (howcome no one ever wonders about Spiderman swinging into the Parkers’ window every night being a minor one). My only answer: an addiction of some sort. Some collection of neurons in our pleasure center responds…maybe to the need to read something implausible and ridiculous just so we feel superior. Not better than sex, but maybe as good as chocolate. No. Well…maybe as good as a fresh pile of boiled and buttered Brussels Sprouts-flavored tofu.

Does Locher just write down every card game pun he knows and then build the entire plot line around them? I have a feeling he does this for every storyline. “This one will be about a bear. Ok, how many bear jokes are there. 15? Ok, this storyline will be 20 comics long, since I can recycle them a few times and repeat things.” And then he collects his paycheck. Blegh.

Know what I miss most? It’s Bassmanbob’s storytelling! To you that are new, you missed a better storyteller than Aesop. To those of us who remember them, the talent and ability to communicate in the abstract is Olympic-class. I’d give anything to be able to read them again!

As has been said before many times by many folks, the absolute best and most entertaining things about the strip in its current state are the comments it generates.

I’ll add my voice to those who long to see BassmanBob and his hilarious stories return. I’d even settle for a reprint of the ones that were lost when the other board was obliterated.
