Joe Allen Doty said, âConsidering âMr. Popsâ original crime, he might end up in a federal prison.â
I believe he was dealing in the sale of illegal arms. Then he stated that he paid his (illegal) customers the money he owed them and was released from prison. Thatâs when he set out to find Ringo (who was in the FBI Witness Protection Program) âhidingâ in the circus as ringmaster.
I feel like a tremendous burden has been lifted from my shoulders.
A long, dark, cold winter has burst into spring.
I was born blind but now I can see.
I was lost, but now Iâm found.
The evil king has been deposed, and the Prince of Summer has taken his throne.
Itâs 6 AM, and Starbucks has opened its doors.
VistaBill - Good recap. I guess we could say that violating the purpose of the Witless (in this case) Protection Program, especially for planning a murder, might be a federal crime. Doty could be right. Hmmm.
ââ
RayC - Cute poem. The last line would also work in a Hiku, with a little editing.
WOW! Over in the Editorial Comics section Dick Locher has his first colored cartoon just like recent Annie and Brenda Starr daily strips. Todayâs is with Karzai of Afganistan.
Off screen a voice comes âItâs time for you to clean up corruption in your Governmentâ.
And he replies (with palm out): âFor that, Iâll need to greese the right palmsâ.
Can I be forgiven for âsuspectingâ this might also be a convenient âsotto voceâ hint to TMS that more âshecklesâ are needed to remove the decay and stultifying banalities that are now part and parcel of Dick Tracy ?
Donât mind that it was the burden of his âinnovativeâ changes, that made it so !
Newenglandah: Ringo is being arrested for (attempted?) blackmail.
Is there anything in this story that made sense? Other than the pig on wheels, I mean.
I donât know if I care to go through another DT installment after this one. Weâve had two in recent history (the robots and now this one) where Tracy spent much of his time crying out in terror while bad guys/robots did their thing around him. Thanks heaps, oh master detective, but I donât need your help to scream. In the next storyline, I half expect the Pig on Wheels to have it in for Tracy, and this time Tracy hides in the barn while screaming in terror that heâs sure going to die this time.
Who sent the âblackmailâ notes to Ringo? Pops?
So, they were blackmailing the blackmailer and killing each other who gets to kill Ringo?
What was the real motive for killing Lousy Trapeze? To prevent her from killing Ringo or to reduce the value of the props?
Pops went from international arms trade to murdering for a Pig on Wheels?
Della and Fifi must have lied to the cops - they knew about the notes and Pops and all - how is that respecting the police? Everyone at the circus should be charged with obstructing justice.
The editorial cartoon makes sense - DL sent us a four month Ransom Note: âpay me more money or this tiger stays hungry!â
If this was not as bad as it can get, I fear for the future.
Wait a minuteâSo Barb Els was in love with Mr. Pops but Louise Trapeze also loved him so Bar Bels shot her.âFederal agent Enen was involved because Mr Pops was a member of the Taliban. So Ringo bought New Jersey and put a circus there because it was a great match. And now we know also that Barb Els was actually Rosie OâDonnell-
NOW itâs all starting to fall in place-Very clever-Very clever indeed.

Good for Fee Fi and Della Contessa! Tracyâs closing in on things now. Heâs a fast operator!
Tracy left out the Pig on Wheels. Iâm sure heâs one of the good guys!
And what about the elephant girl? And the elephant. They didnât do anything bad⌠except for the possible mess the elephant left on the floor.
Please feed the tiger!

This is taking an extremely long time. I did enjoy the art today though. So no complaints.

Itâs a shame that Dick Tracy is no longer on the airwaves. The Pig on Wheels would have made a swell radio premium.

that last line was like one of sargent joe fridayâs clever, ironic lines in âdragnetâ
so, of course, following the last panel, we should hear:
DUMMMMM DAH DUMP DUMP! DUMMMMM DAH DUMP DUMP DUMMMMM!

How did Tracy just by standing around for the last four months come to this conclusion?

Newenglandah asks :
âUmm ⌠whatâs Ringo being arrested for?â
In Trinidad they call it mauvais langue (Fr), from Mr.Pops (i.e. bad tongue, ill speaking someone) - no* real evidence *!
But ridenslide65 puts his finger on the real reason, âsloppy workâ, with Locher just making things up as he goes along !
