    @tcayer

    Neither Baron Clovis nor Dr. Meangreen are nods to past characters…well, not Tracy ones at any rate.

    But you are right. They’ve gone overboard in using old characters…like Sam…and Lizz…and Chief Patton…they should invent new and better characters like Robotracy and Mr. Pops.

    Dick and Abner have such similar chins . . . any chance they were separated at birth?

    What is Tracy going to do at Kadaverwerks? Dismantle every mannikin to see if there is a body concealed inside it?

    Ah! Black and white!No brown police cars, people with green skin, etc., etc.

    Now what – or who – will Tracy find here?

    I think I like the B&W version better.Also, I like the way Kadaver’s speech bubble is drawn to simulate that deep, slow, morbid voice.

    Yay for beautiful B&W! After facing such good-looking villians as Pruneface, Flyface, Morning Gloria, etc, a few horror prop dummies aren’t going to scare our man Tracy. Heck, even his in-laws the Plentys are uglier than most horror prop dummies!

    When you have an in-law like Attitude Plenty, nothing else scares you. Also, one more vote for B&W.

    Howdy all. Horror host Dr. Gangrene here – that was indeed me that Mike Curtis based Dr. Meangreen on. I interviewed Mike about HIS own horror host experience for Scary Monsters magazine – you can read it on my blog here: http://drgangrene.blogspot.com/2010/08/interview-with-count-basil-aka-mike.html

    I’m not sure how much difference it’ll make, since they did a “one-day special” before, then brought back the color dailies, but I also vote for B&W Monday through Saturday.

    i prefer color — let’s join the twenty-first century. do you really believe gould would have rejected color if the technology had been easily and widely available when he was doing the strip?

    I must add my thoughts on the B&W vs. color. I get the Comics Kingdom color and usually like their rendering. But today’s B& W is outstanding. Especially for this story arc. Scary movies always were more sinister in B&W. EX: Psycho. So, I would like to see GoComics do the B&W. and Comics Kingdom continue the color.

    I disagree with the idea that “everything just gets washed out, details are lost” in a black and white daily strip. That’s what happens when the black-and-whites have color imposed on them. Especially the uninspired color imposed here at gocomics. You need a really fine colorist like Shane to make the art “pop” like he does every Sunday.

    My vote goes for presenting the strips the way the artist creates them. The crayonistas never add anything to the work and more often detract from it. (It’s like the infamous colorized version of “Casablanca.” When Rick told Ilsa “You wore blue,” he meant her dress, not her teeth.)

    Perhaps it is nostalgic, but to me, having Sam Catchem, Pat Patton, etc.. IS Dick Tracy! If newer characters are needed, then I say start a newer, and different strip. And another aye vote for black &white! Color for Sundays only.
