Yeah, that’s right Shaw, Tracy is gonna sue the loud goshe shirt right off your back. Hmmm I wonder what DT’s lawyer is like and what his name would be? C.U. Incourt? Lee Gil Shark?

By Hustler Magazine v. Falwell in 1988 I don’t see how there is any worry about a lawsuit as 1) Dick Tracy is a public figure and 2) the strip is a parody and therefore not Defamation.

I’m thinking it could be defamation depending on what it says and how it says it. I know you can make a parody of a work of art. Can you make a parody of any actual person?

Dick Tracy can’t sue – parody is protected by first amendment and fair use. :)

Scott Shaw is nobody’s fool. He’s cut right down to the skinny with thoughtless dreamer Vera Alldid. Will Tracy sue? He may very well threaten to sue, but I’m don’t think he’d have much of a case against a (so far) innocent parody….

Shaw is my kind of guy, no messing around! I bet even still the man will like this guy. I think the Dick Tracy comic just keeps getting better everyday with a glitch every once in awhile just to show that the team is real people.

Parodies are protected by the 1st Amendment as freedom of speech. But if Tracy were to base a lawsuit upon their past history, he could go for harassment, so Scott is right in being concerned.

Don’t think anyone can call this boring anymore. Things are happening pretty fast, all of a sudden! And maybe Sisyphos said it best: Vera Alldid is a dreamer!.Still, the dreamer has made it this far – a lot farther than most of us will ever see. Perhaps Vera has a vendetta, but I don’t think that’s the case..I just can’t imagine a vendetta making it this far…

I wouldn’t expect Tracy to file a lawsuit. Were he to do so, it would fail, while providing plenty of publicity for Kolossal Studios. Tracy may feel the strip is a crime, but it is not a case for the MCU. I wonder when that fellow in the balcony at The Patterson Playhouse will return.

I’m sure the writers know all about lawsuits…I’m sure they got their butts covered…All round…This strip is soooo cool.

You know how we all learn something new everyday? Well I just found out that Scott Shaw wrote and drew for Archie Comics’ Sonic the Hedgehog early on in the series’ run and that most recently, he has become involved in the long-running litigation between Ken Penders and the publishers over copyright and character ownership.

I just realized that Mr. Kolossal looks exactly like my 7th grade history teacher, Mr. Carpenter! He was the best, always taking us out on field trips rather than text books to learn about our past!

Kolossal has empty eyes. My guess is this means this will tie in with the Orphan Annie strip somehow. But it’s like almost time for the next installment and nobody else has said the same, so…??
