Lizz said Vic Smith, Wendy Wichel said John Cassaday. It is either Lizz got it wrong or Wendy did. Or they could be both right – one of the names could be an alias.

.Good morning guys!.Two people I do not like are Wendy Wichel and Vera Alldid..Hope you had success seeing a doctor, Neil Wick!

“John Cassaday” is a name that does ring a bell …

Another comic book artist.

That might be the naming convention for this story.

Wendy Wichtel…..bomb throwing “TV journalist”. Maybe it will take Tracy saving her from a hideous death to get her to find a clue.

Odd that Wendy would appear, as she had been on the short list of potential “Midnight Mirror” authors.

Tracy and Sam are watching the broadcast.

Might they have put Wendy up to reporting false information about the case?

Or did Mike forget which name he used for the agent, during the multi-week production gap between Sunday and weekday strips.

Oops, looking more closely, those are silhouettes of Tracy and Nash, aren’t they?

There is precedent for Wendy at least being asked to funnel false information …

Plus, Wendy was involved in a vaguely similar sequence of events, circa 1990 …

Could this tie into Mike’s previous Putty Puss story, which involved a reality show competition between Would-Be Hollywood Makeup Artists …?

Possible “Revenge Motive” from a disgruntled employee, who feels wronged by the production somehow …?

Maybe John is his real name? Perhaps a ploy to unsettle the killer?

I’m finding all of this very confusing.

Given the kind of “journalist” Wendy Wichel is, she may well have gotten Vic Smith’s name wrong. Or maybe Lizz’s initial identification was based on faulty evidence, such as a fake driver’s license (don’t ask why, just go with it).

I’m going to go way out on a limb and suggest a hypothesis. The killing of Smith/Cassady was just a diversion, a bit of misdirection by the perp to send the cops down a bunch of the wrong rabbit holes, investigating financial ties, having a forensic audit of the books, etc,, before he puts the hit on his true target. Wild guess: the real intended victim will be the so-far-unnamed director, and the killer is Boss Tracy/Nash….

Okay, now proceed to saw off my limb.

For any wondering, I arrived at the hospital at 3:45 pm and finally got to see a doctor at around 4:45 am. She asked me about some associated symptoms, none of which I seem to have, then poked me in various places and none of them were particularly painful at this point. She said that whatever it was seems to have passed and I should come back if I end up having over symptoms or if the pain comes back.

That’s our Wendy – fair and balanced (heavy sarcasm)…

Interesting that the victim was the author’s agent.Only someone very close to the author would even know who his agent was.It isn’t like the victim was someone connected to the movie, somebody an outsider would know from publicity.Maybe the author did it.Get rid of an annoying agent, and create interest in the stories and movie. Not a bad motive.

Its a homicide investigation now…a who’s who and a whodunnit..

The lighting guy at SBN must have had a hell of a time lighting that set so Wendy could wear that giant hat during the broadcast without having her face in shadow.

Hey, that’s as good an explanation for the missing gold as anything else I’ve heard! Neil’s symptoms certainly match the description of Gold poisoning AND Junior does seem to have about a hundred MCU mugs stashed in his house!!

Agree with the point of view on Vera.Sad thing is, he’s now treated like the he was ‘painted’ in those days.Can’t say. he was ever a favourite character of mine, but the better side of his character has ‘vanished’ !

Good post, Av. One has to read it carefully, and more than once to get its depth. Truer words have not been versed.

I’ve been having a lot of mechanical problems with my computer and printer and I just caught up with my strips reading. Took awhile to go through all the comments of the last week. This story has been going on a month now and seems to be the slowest moving since last summer’s Annie story. Actually I wished the previous story went a little slower. So many details were skipped.

What happened to Neil puts a black eye on a universal care scheme.

Yes, it has good points and bad points. There is also a doctor shortage around here. It’s hard to find a “family doctor” if you don’t have one. I’m off to bed to try to catch up on some of that sleep I missed. Big French exam in the morning.
