Not to mention Pruneface, the Brow, Itchy, Mumbles, Mr. Bribery (and yes, the list goes on and on…). Still, a funny comment on Tracy’s part!

SIGH 6 days of album filler songs! No suspense, corny dialogue, reckless behavior with gun in face, on and on. Sorry, I appreciate what the boys have done to restore this strip back to it’s former glory but they’ve been at it for several years now. I think that’s long enough to hold them accountable for what they produce. This week’s entry is the equivalent of a fast food dinner. Nothing but empty calories. It’s alright, everyone’s allowed to have an off day, or week but vacation’s over TT, time to get back to work!

I agree. This was a fun little change of pace, and who knows how it might fit into the conclusion of the Specs and Spicy story still to come?

Yep, nice to be fun once in a while too….although I have a feeling this whole story will be in a light-hearted vein….specs and spicy aren’t exact the scariest baddies Tracy’s faced.

Hmm….I was thinking they had already arrived in Cuba and was going to ask why it was snowing there….but then I looked back and discovered they are still in ’Tracy’s city’.

Seems to me that all I said was:“Not to mention Pruneface, the Brow, Itchy, Mumbles, Mr. Bribery (and yes, the list goes on and on…). Still, a funny comment on Tracy’s part!”That, in response to “Detective Tracy, you have some very odd criminals in your country” after which, Tracy said, “You should have met Flattop.”Then, I got:,“I see them as congenital mutants as wells born criminals just the way they were seen to be back when this started. Lombroso’s view on it.-From Wikipeadia:Cesare Lombroso (Italian pronunciation: [ˈtʃeːzare lomˈbroːzo; -oːso]; born Ezechia Marco Lombroso ; 6 November 1835 –19 October 1909), was an Italian criminologist and physician, founder of the Italian School of Positivist Criminology, often referred to as the father of criminology. Lombroso rejected the established classical school, which held that crime was a characteristic trait of human nature. Instead, using concepts drawn from physiognomy, degeneration theory, psychiatry and Social Darwinism, Lombroso’s theory of anthropological criminology essentially stated that criminality was inherited, and that someone “born criminal” could be identified by physical (congenital) defects, which confirmed a criminal as savage or atavistic”.Should I not attempt to appreciate Team Tracy’s humor here again?

I’m with you. If memory serves even the great Chester Gould had stretches like this when he did the strip.

Why the Big Frappé yesterday over Bronson Canyon ‘holding on to’ his gun ? Just symbolic of a departure mode, and today we see a ‘slack’ handWhat’s quite obvious is that three other guns are pointed directly at the CanyonsPoor odds apparent, should any ‘aggressive’ thought have crossed his mind.

Never been in the habit of making helpful “excuses” for Authors - but these 2 individuals, (brothers), are ‘well known’ to Tracy, and further, as “experienced” law officers they’d likely - quite easily “read” the gunman’s “Body Language” !

    NO !!

It’s now SIX WEEKS of being “All Over” the Map, including 2 “feel goodies” on the side *-John Locher and Dethany Denorobia

The BIG story that got things rolling was the $4 Billion Bank Robbery - Headlined on Jan.4 - in the Newspapers. It was the easily the LARGEST $ Crime ever, in Tracyville history !

Yet, REMAKABLY, (at least for me) - in that significant ‘time span’ No Authority has been ‘depicted’ investigating the ‘scene’ of the Crime ? ? ? Not a panel ! Not a word !No MCU !(?) No FBI ! (?) Not a Wendy Witchel ‘questioning’ this lack of diligence ?Like it ALL never happened?

What’s being “searched” for is a pair of “missing” glasses. One they assume was stolen. And they are flying to Cuba hoping to get itVery Strange World. Strange Plot ! ? ?

I didn’t see anyone disrespecting your opinion. I respect your opinion, but that doesn’t mean I agree with it. I found this incident with the bank robbers to be fun. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with a little comic relief now and then. Again, you are not required to agree with me on that.

I see them as congenital mutants as wells born criminals just the way they were seen to be back when this started. Lombroso’s view on it.I read what you posted about Lombroso. It is ironic that Chester Gould’s characters can be interpreted that way, because there is abundant evidence (from many interviews he gave on the subject, and from the strip itself) that he believed pretty much the opposite. What I mean is this: Gould stated in his interview for the book Celebrated Cases of Dick Tracy that he did not necessarily consider his criminal characters “ugly”, but that the crimes they and people in real life committed were ugly actions. In other words, he considered Dick Tracy a morality play, where the “bad guys” had names and mannerisms to match their actions. Of course, his primary interest was to tell a rip- roaring good story, so he did not hold to this principle 100%, but I have read many, many interviews where he said essentially the same thing as I have outlined above. It seems clear that he did not believe in theories such as “Social Darwinism” or that criminality was inherited – Gould believed strongly in personal responsibility for one’s own actions. And, anyway, he has stated more than once that his main reason for designing his most famous villains was because he felt he was competing with the front page – he wanted to come up with stuff that would keep his readers coming back day after day.Are some people born to be criminals, as Lombroso suggests? I guess that depends on your world-view. Christianity teaches that every human being has a sin nature; not every one becomes a criminal in the eyes of the law, but everyone has fallen short of God’s perfect law; thus we need a Savior. I know from previous conversations with you, that you do not believe that. I do believe it. I think Lombroso missed the mark in trying to understand criminality.

Gweedo, postpone Sunday night’s steak dinner until 2/21. Vista Bill will not appear in DT until then. Just as well, we sent Abner for beef steaks. He misunderstood, went to the vegetarian market and purchased beet steaks! Dracula planned to come. His tired old wings were not up to the flight so he boarded an airplane in the form of a vapor mist. The stewardess mistook the vapor as being cigarette smoke and sprayed him with Lysol. Hack, hack!

SEEMS the FBI in Tracy’s City is indisposed ?

As I recall their Rep there - Fritz Ann Dietrich was shot, Happily, readers noted that she had ‘survived’, but might still be Hospitalized ?Earlier FBI representative Jim Trailer had been promoted.

But from Tracy’s more recent history other names come to ‘mind’ -

    Agent Kelly – 1953Agent Hunter – 1999Agent Karen Ennen – 2008

Possibly? - one of them, can be recalled to familiar territory to ‘investigate’ the Banks pending $4 Billion theft ! (?)
