Inspector Ishida has been trying for some time to find evidence that could put Sawtooth away. With Tracy’s help, Sawtooth may finally be taken out of action.

And that is how they found him. Simple. Now that Sawtooth is behind the tombstone he could pull his weapon and open fire.

The look on Sam’s face suggests he is ready and wants Sawtooth to go down.

I wonder if Sam and Tracy paid the cab driver and ordered him to leave? Thus making Sawtooth’s only means of escape to be on foot!

I’m quite sure that Sawtooth has a gun, or two, hidden somewhere on his person. I foresee plenty of lead flying.

Sawtooth was well on his way to Minot via freight train before Ishida ever called Tracy.

Freight trains dont have to worry about traffic lights or congestion when they are moving (having lived a block or two from a freight train line in my town, i know this firsthand) and usually travel at speeds topping 40 – 50mph at times

I’ve seen enough ‘police procedure shows/movies’ to know you just dont “get a warrant to search someones apartment” without an iron clad valid reason…. AND a judge thats willing to listen to your argument FOR getting it.

This could take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours depending on the DA/ADA’S relationship with the judge and whether or not they are willing to comply. (IF Tracy had contacted Ishida and told him that Sawtooth had murdered Ygor and that he is on the run after their ‘patio throwdown’ it would have ‘greased the gears’ so to speak)

Even so, Tracy and Sam would have taken even LONGER to get to Minot because they were, (correct me if im wrong) at the scene of the abandoned truck with Grimm dead n the back… and Sawtooth was already on the train.

Even tho the info from Ishida said that Sawtooth would be at this specific cemetery, i dont see how the receipt from said cemetery would specify where the plot/headstone that sawtooth bought would be. (cemetery plots and locations are kept on record in the cemetery offices, but they dont give the exact locations of the plots, just a general area…the cemetery my cousin is buried at told me that they have maps in the office to give visitors so they will know where to go)

Even IF the cemetery gave Tracy and Sam the exact location, they would have had to stop to ask for it, which would have delayed them even MORE! Sorry, i just cant see Speed Racer and his trusty sidekick getting there in time to apprehend Sawtooth.. even if they DID use lights and sirens

There is an arrest warrant for Sawtooth, as he attempted to murder the Chief Detective. The corpse of Grimm has been discovered near the freight yards. A judge in Tracyville would confirm that Sawtooth is in flight from authorities and likely headed to Minot, per Grimm’s comments at the pub. Inspector Ishda would have no trouble getting a warrant, as the fugitive is armed and dangerous. Of course, Tracy rarely deals with the courts. This is not Law and Order.

The travel time of freight trains depends on many factors. That Sawtooth hopped on an unsecured car with a light load suggests that this was not valuable/perishable cargo on a tight schedule. Sam is quite capable of pursuing a fugitive at high speed. Still, it is a comic strip, and a very good one, so the need for proof of travel times eludes me. Stating an opinion in bold and caps does not enhance its value. I see nothing in the story that warrants sneering condemnation. I fine Sawtooth’s return to be quite entertaining and successful.

So Ishida was able to get a search warrant in his west-coast state while the police couldn’t get a warrant to stop the train Sawtooth was on in North Dakota! Interesting…

I assume that Ishida just found out where Sawtooth was hiding out on the West Coast, or he’d have had him arrested before Sawtooth and Grimm went to Tracytown!

Ok, is the gig up for Sawtooth or will he make another daring escape?

Does this warrant ex machina that Inspector Isiha obtained also give Dick Tracy jurisdiction in North Dakota?

Meanwhile, will Sawtooth “make a play” and get smoked, or will he meekly accept arrest and live to fight again another day?
