Tracy shouldn’t have to turn to a newspaper (which is printed and delivered hours-to-days after events it covers) to get the lowdown on police activity. I get the “show, don’t tell” storytelling angle, but IMHO it’d make more sense to convey this info on a computer screen, wrist wizard projection, or some other digital/electronic means.
Tracy, you’ve been doing this for 87 years, and you don’t think that stealing the uniforms rather than the money isn’t unusual? That maybe you should at least find out which uniforms were taken?
There is a company in Chicago called Andy Frain ushers. They provide ushers for stadiums, arenas, theatres, and special events all around town. These ushers are uniformed. Zelda’s performance venue would hire ushers.
Large entertainment venues like the one where Zelda will perform are generally responsible for their own security. Those security guards are uniformed.
…so are police officers…so are vendors and maintenance men.
Get the picture? There are many ways Splitface could use uniforms to sneak into Zelda’s show and get close to her. Uniform companies sell and rent uniforms to everyone from chefs to school children to bowling leagues. The police blotter gives pretty sparse information if they want the crime solved.
However, I don’t think the entry went unnoticed by Tracy. I read the strip today as—
SAM: Still no sign of splitface?TRACY: Not yet. Nothing unusual in the Police Report either.
(Then Tracy looks down and reads the next entry on the blotter).
the whole “rush to the theater to warn vitamin” and the “warn zelda” (which by the way we HAVENT seen yet, tho i guess off panel she would have been told when vitamin was) thing has been pretty much a waste of time… just like this strip has for the last what, going on 3 weeks now since donnie wrapped up his story?
the police KNOW haf-n-haf is at large, yet NOBODY is actively searching for him?
Seriously?!?!?
How much time do you think has passed in the strip? Enough for Tulza to make his escape during the storm and stop outside of town where the bus dropped him off. Enough for the Patterson Playhouse to open for rehearsals for A Chin to Die For, enough for tracy and sam to race to the playhouse to warn vitamin, enough for Zelda to arrive at the playhouse and talk to vitamin, then spend some cutesy girlie time with Kandikane… its GOT to be at least id guess 3 days, and youre telling me that in that time NOBODY has been out canvassing Tracyville looking for Tulza?
Panel 1: Is Sam (who, we know, is Jewish) trying to sound like an Irish cop?
Better take a closer look at that police report, the Police Blotter, Tracy. Everyone here, it seems, has already spotted that uniform heist as likely related to Splitface’s intent to kill Zelda.
I am bemused that vandalizing a snowman even merits mention in the daily Blotter (maybe every complaint or report that is filed with the police is included)….

Good morning™, blotter readers!
Splitface probably didn’t vandalize Ms. Sitzes’ snowman, but he could be behind the uniform theft. What do you think?

Nothing unusual? Tracy must not watch many heist movies.

Uniforms, but not money, being stolen doesn’t strike him as unusual?

Tracy, what about the Pizza guy asked to deliver to an “empty” factory and then getting mugged ? That should be on the “blotter”.

“Several” uniforms stolen – a couple for infiltrating the theatre and a quick change into a couple more for the escape???
