A little recap of Sunday today for readers of papers who don’t run the Sunday strips, but an intriguing new bit of information. Frisk says she needs to meet with Lizz. Why?
Actually, Det. Frisk wasn’t quite “through with the major crimes unit” at the time of her disappearance. In the following “death by chocolate”/Mousse storyline, Frisk was set up as the “cophouse mole,” a figure who through low-level sabotage drew attention to corrupt cops in the dept. After setting this up, Mike Kilian apparently decided to delay the reveal into a later story line TBD, but didn’t return to it before his death a year later. Locher never picked up the dangling plot threads.
Lizz’s deceased husband Groovy Grove had been previously married and had a child. His ex remarried and she and the child went to live with her new husband. The house burned down and Groovy’s ex and her new husband were killed. The daughter, Tinky, escaped but was blindedd. She was sent to live with a guardian because her father, Groovy, was in prison at the time. She lived with the guardian since age 3. Groovy later joined the force, married Lizz, and was reunited with Tinky. Groovy was subsequently killed in action leaving Lizz as Tinky’s step-mother. Not much has been mentioned of Tinky or her relationship to Lizz since then but it seems like this previous tale could be woven into an adoption plot line.
1-DT: I remember now why I broke it off with you Primm. Your inhumanly long neck. PRIMM: Why I oughta – I broke it off with you Tracy because of your hideous, never-changing wardrobe… 2-…besides, I got me a real man now. Butch McBruteface. 3-DT: Whatevs. Your ride’s here – the Enemas Make Sense truck. You look like you’re long overdue for one. PRIMM: No way Tracy. Just the thought of you protecting this city scares the crap outta me. DT: Are you as hot as I am right now. PRIMM: Yeah! Let’s beat the stiff to the back of the ambulance and let nature take its course! DT: Oh baby! I haven’t fired my gun in the line of duty in like, forever! PRIMM: I hope it’s loaded this time. DT: You always gotta bring that up, don’t you…
So, Detective Frieda Frisk has an issue to discuss with Detective Lizz Worthington? Maybe it has to do with Lizz having been an orphan herself (as explained by Neal Wick way up above) or with Lizz’s stepdaughter, Tinky Grove ( as described by Ray Toler above, long unseen/unmentioned in the strip). Whatever the specifics, it seems that Friskie has some need of Lizz in her pursuit of the Howell babies case, and that Tracy will also be drawn into it….

I think that “Photo” is the new “improved” Sal Monella.

Sal Monella, eh? What was his crime; contaminating something?

This is great. Now we know that Liz will be involved (featured?) in this story line – definitely haven’t seen enough of her lately…
