Well that explains a lot. And what was Ma doing hanging around a truck stop? You don’t think…..no not Ma….was she hot when she was young? Was Pa availing of her services at the time? The mind reels.
I guess the question is, “Who’s going to get lucky?” Will it be just the Crustwood team or will it be their opponents as well? And are there marks on the bar from previous events, some perhaps from Ma’s time? Or Joy’s? In Crustwood, the big mystery is “Who’s your Daddy?”
I would rather find a man at a truck stop. At least you know they have a job.
So Verl is going to a bar to hopefully meet a soft ball player? Swiffle ball maybe. (they play it at the Villages here)
Yea a bar full of sweaty, loud mouthed , drinkers. YUP that’s the kind of man I would want for my 50 something desperate daughter..
Oh Joy you have to be disabled to get a “special” parking.and it’s really OK for the kids to use the sidewalk for riding their bikes.. GET A LIFE girl…
The point ya’ll are missing is that her great advantage at the bar IS that the men are drunk. The last one who woke up with her had to have three years of intensive therapy before he could join the monastery. .You will note, too that Ma apparently has some experience with men she’s found in barns.
I was a security guard at one a long time ago. The only ladies that hung out there charged for their services. I had to run them out all the time. Since Ma doesn’t have the look of a female truck driver or the skill sets for for at a truck stop other wise. I think MA should not go into details
I travel a great deal and have discovered the major truck stops have cleaner restrooms and the gas pump area much better equipped and clean than your standard gas station. I suppose the larger truck stops have people that are dedicated to clean up and resupply. IMHO.
Truck stops are a rather strange phenomena… they usually have popular restaurants that cater to “home cooking, greasy sorts of foods” so they tend to be popular for a lot of truckers and also for families who prefer that sort of food. They also usually have some sort of store attached selling all manner of big rig, truck, and auto related items so the truckers (and others) can do minor repairs. They tend to have relatively clean bathrooms and showers. Most of the ones in my neck of the woods also have a special room just for actual truckers where there are a few lounger chairs and couches (Lazy-Boy style), and a big television, where the truckers only can come in and sit, relax, and often times drink a bit (typically beer wrapped in brown paper bags). Because the truck stops try to cater to all manner of folks, the front parking lots are for regular cars and trucks to park, get gas, etc. The back parking lot is where the big rigs go to diesel up or to park. And, yes, in most truck stops, in that back parking lot, there are often females who provide “services” to some truckers who may be so inclined. But, in most of the truck stops I have seen, they tend to keep the action “discreetly” in that region, and away from the remainder of the facilities. I learned all of this, not because I was a trucker (I never had that job), nor because I went to eat at the restaurants (I do not reallly like that sort of food), but I did learn the “truck stop” floor plan during the four years I had a diesel car. In my area, the only place diesel was available during that time WAS at the truck stops. It was funny having to drive my itty bitty diesel car way into the back amongst all the hulking rigs (18 wheelers), and I caught a fairly good eyeful of the goings on in that back region.
In re: Truck Stops, there is a chain here in Texas called “Buc-ee’s.” It is technically not a truck stop but rather a roadside convenience. They are astounding!!! I recommend that you Google them (just “buc ees” will work). Every thing they say about them is true and then some. Believe me on this, you really can eat off the floor of the restrooms. And they have a full-time attendant to keep it that way! Whooda thunk it?
We’ve stopped at a couple of truck stops going back and forth between Maryland and Tennessee. Believe me, I’d rather use their restrooms than some other places we stopped. And they serve decent coffee.
Regarding Ma’s comment, what exactly is wrong with farmers, they seem as desirable as truckers, unless you only want one thing from the trucker and are glad he is on the road the rest of the time.
Any way you figure today’s strip (no pun intended) it is just plain bad.

Some one has to tell them that “special parking permits” are for the physically (not intellectually) disabled.

I’ve never ever been in a truck stop. And now I’m glad I’ve never been to one.

I’m glad all over.

I think you’ve missed my point. I wouldn’t want to meet anyone like her at a truck stop. And I haven’t been in a McDonald’s in a very, very longtime.
