Considering that our legislature made it legal to buy just about anything that explodes this year, I am hoping we don’t have a high casualty rate and/or fires. I could express my disdain for our legislature but I do hope even they don’t suffer for their ignorance.
But seriously, folks. Please keep your furry friends inside during the fireworks displays, with the windows closed and the a/c cranked. All the flash-bangs that you find so exciting can be terrifying for your cats and dogs. When a dog breaks loose and panics, he can get miles away before he slows down. Animal control officials report spikes in lost pets over the traditional fireworks holidays.
Heh. One year I got some little Charles Darwin bobble-head statuettes and handed them out to some of the more enthusiastic fireworks people around here. For some reason they did not react well. I can’t imagine why.
That second panel looks like the result of a non-agression treaty between the U.S. and N. Korea. Kim get’s the half that survived the blast. Trump, and the rest of us were turned into star dust.
Having grown up in a county (and to a lesser extent, a state) where absolutely nothing was allowed (not even sparklers), I’m still amazed by what one can get in other states. It seemed like back then, it was only the “bad kids” who had fireworks, especially firecrackers (influence of my parents, probably). The “bad kids” always got their firecrackers “in Mexico”, which made them even more “bad”!
Here in Portland, OR all you have to do is drive over the bridge to Vancouver, WA to buy all the “bad” fireworks you want. Just be careful not to get caught shooting them off, but it’s loosely enforced unless things get rowdy.

Since legal fireworks are labelled “safe and sane”, I’ve always wondered what the “unsafe and insane” fireworks were.

Our government tried to ban them but were overruled, shame!

Sooner or later you can’t light them because you have no fingers left.
