The question is, can the rest of life on this planet survive humans?

If you’re thinking about investing in Dogecoin, look up the phrase “pump and dump” first.

I’m suspicious of cryptocurrency: it seems like it’s just made up out of nothing, and could collapse in a moment’s notice. I admit I don’t understand how it’s generated or monitored, but it just seems like one day, somebody said, “hey, I invented a new money. Each coin is worth whatever I say it is on any given day—or what any celebrity says, for that matter!”

How much can you buy with cryptocurrency during a power outage? Or if a computer virus or cyber attack shuts down your internet access? I might use mainly credit cards for day to day, but i always keep some physical currency on me for emergencies.

Will Rogers spoke of the first generation to go to the poorhouse in a car. This generation will get there from their desk chairs.

I’d never heard of the whole concept of “coin investments” until I was visiting my son and family last. He wanted to teach my college bound grandson about investing so they both put some money into it and in the evening they sat down together and went over how much they were down or ahead in the “market.” Great learning skill without much harm done IMHO.

Bitcoin, and presumably other cryptocurrencies have the disadvantage of requiring huge amounts of electricity to “mine” them by using computers to solve equations. How much electricity? Enough for bitcoin mining to make a noticeable contribution to excess CO2 levels. Various explanations of what mining consists of are available on the web, and since I really don’t understand it, I’m not going to try to explain it (nor am I going to invest in it).I predict a conclusion similar to the one the Dutch arrived at with Tulipmania in the year 1637. It will take longer now as we are looking at a world wide market with billions of potential buyers vs the small Dutch tulip bulb market. When will it end? When no one else is interested in buying the last seller’s bitcoin.

There are three eras of currency: Commodity based, politically based, and now, math based. Most of us are pretty bad a math.
