Good thing he went to law school, or he would just go around killing people randomly without knowing it was wrong.

It never occurred to him that the tapes would be used against him. So, Yes, he was arrogant, he only saw himself as he saw himself, not s others would. His plan was to sanitize the tapes, and that’s what he started doing, making erasures, with the help of that ‘hoe of a secretary of his. I never understood why she also didn’t go to jail. Chivalry, we don’t send broads to jail. Sexism in reverse!

If tricky dicky didn’t go to jail, don’t see why Rosemary woods should have gone to jail. She would not have done erasures unauthorized by him.

I think these would be the through processes of a politician caught in a tight situation, even through today.

George, that is a nice reference to Kentucky Fried Movie. Too few of the young ones have seen that wonderfully outrageous (at the time) movie.

If you haven’t read Hunter Thompson’s obit of the Trickster, “He Was a Crook,” check it out. Whatever you or I may think of Thompson, he captured my feelings about Nixon, no matter what anyone else may have felt. I just read a biography of Nixon by Conrad Black who all but proclaims him as the greatest American since George Washngton, a victim of evil forces around him. Growing up and watching him I lean more towards Thompson’s viewpoint, especially in light of Tricky’s own words: “if the President does it, it’s not illegal.” Life is not black and white and everyone has their good and bad points it’s true, but to me Nixon was much more representative of the dark side of the American/human psyche.

All of them. And every politician too.

And in what’s supposed to be a democratic form of government we have not only a right, but an obligation to wonder that, wouldn’t you agree? I don’t think I have ever felt as offended by anything as much as “America, love it or leave it,” which was in vogue during Viet Nam. True patriots question authority and work to improve the state of affairs, as opposed to sheep following blindly along.

They gave themselves away when they corrected a quote with exact words. Folks realized the only way to give exact quote was if had recorded..LBJ was the only president to tape everything from start to finish. Those tapes have cleared up many questions already..My respect for him went up greatly when I found McNamara was the liar not LBJ on Gulf of Tonkin Incident.

@DHGMost presidents from FDR to Nixon recorded some or all the conversations that took place in the Oval Office. They did it for historical record.One conversation I found interesting is the one LBJ — the man who marshaled through the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts — had with columnist Drew Pearson about appointing Thurgood Marshall Solicitor General. He constantly uses the “n” word. Pearson politely listens, expressing no discomfort.

By Heather HolmesKTVU.comSAN JOSE, Calif. — College students in the South Bay are outraged by the sudden closure of their school.Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Deputies Monday closed Bryman College on South Winchester Boulevard in San Jose after the landlord slapped the school with an eviction order.The school provides training in medical fields at campuses in San Jose, Hayward, San Francisco and Los Angeles.The San Jose location is the only one to be shuttered.“How do you not pay rent for a building?” asked 20-year-old student Amanda Caleira. “Words can’t even describe it. That’s how mad I am.”Caldeira told KTVU she was in class Monday afternoon when her instructor left the room.She then returned and told all of the students they had one hour to collect their things and leave.“How could they tell us last minute to just pack up,” she asked.Caldeira was studying to be a medical assistant and said she paid $16,000 in tuition.“All that money was given to the school, it’s like what did you do with it? Did you just blow it on yourself,” said Caldeira.The Bryman College system is operated by the for profit education company BioHealth College.KTVU went by the company’s San Jose headquarters but were told no one was available to discuss the situation. Monday evening a locksmith was on the grounds of Bryman College rekeying the doors.Caldeira said she and other students plan to show up at the school Tuesday morning when classes normally begin in search of answers.“It’s like do I transfer my credits to a different school? Do I wait to figure out if this school is going to pay their rent and I can come back here?” Caldeira said. “I have no idea what I’m going to do.”

G. Gordon Liddy also wrote of being ordered to kill a reporter who embarrassed them. He announced openly what his orders were so they would rescind them. He knew of reporters who revealed secrets which got Americans killed, but politicians didn’t mind that as much as being personally embarrassed.Wrong priorities.

@DHGI am a great admirer of LBJ. Whether he used that horrible word or not, he did more for Civil Rights than any president since Lincoln.
