My late dad’s ashes were boxed up from 2012-2019. Then last August, his ashes and those of my mom were buried side by side. BTW, tomorrow is what would have been Mom’s 94th birthday, and the first anniversary of her passing. RIP.
When my mom passed, we checked into having her ashes spread over the Gulf of Mexico…the cost helped us to decide to go do the spreading over Medina Lake near us…
I think I got my first cremation mailing in my late 50s. Now in my 60s, I get a lot of mail for pre-burial plans, cremation offers and writing a will. But in case I don’t drop dead any time soon, I also get a ton of Estate Planning mail. Sheesh!
It’s such a pleasure to receive a real birthday card in your mailbox. I get so few now but I display them for about 2 weeks on the counter. I appreciate the emails and they’re very thoughtful as well as Facebook messages but it’s a once and done affair.
Yeah! Don’t laugh! For the last 5 years, on my birthday, I get a letter from the Neptune Society. Spread my ashes over the Pacific Ocean. I said, “Don’t laugh!!”

Yeah, it was an eye-opener when I got my first card from a funeral home.

Just before I die, I hope to eat a bag of uncooked popcorn.
My cremation will be epic…..

Just mail them to Africa and have them dumped somewhere in the Sahara. Pretty soon they’ll be spread all over the Atlantic.

You still get physical mail other than junk mail? Strange, VERY strange.

I think I might have given AARP the slip by moving. Them and my alumni organization, argh.

It’s the first time he’s mentioned his birthday as being on July 28, if previous years’ July 28 strips are any indication

Yeah, I love the ads that start with “If you’re between the ages of 65 and dead…”

One of the birthday cards is from his bank, the other 2 are from credit card companies.

I’ve thought about being cremated. I would like to have my ashes mixed with some potting soil and used to grow something.

Happy Birthday, Ralph. (Though, that doesn’t match up with the strip’s debut date of 3/5/79 … )
