It should be 15%. Those tablet things are a ripoff. We should follow the European practice of service est compris. And of course the employers should pay a living wage. I was a busboy as a teen. The waiters/waitresses were supposed to give 20% of tips to the busboys, and most did, but some cheated us. It should all be in the paycheck.
It is no longer a “tip”. A tip used to be a gratuity, a thank you for wonderful service. Now it has become required as part of the cost of something I want to buy. I really hate it and will stop going to a restaurant that has menu prices and a required tip on the receipt. If the cost of the meal will include a tip, the reflect it in the menu. Raise the price and let me decide the worth of the service.
Seems to me the trays they carry would be heavier than the iPad. I use a gift card so I can write in what I want the tip to be. I usually leave 15-20%.
Raising the “cost” of the service automatically goes up whenever the cost of the food goes up!!… and with the cost of everything now… it ends up being a lot more!!!… there is no reason to raise the expected gratuity to 20 %…. the waitresses already get a raise whenever the prices go up!! The one paying them should be paying them more an hour!
I ordered a pizza recently and drove to pick it up and it asked for a tip. I drove there! I paid for the pizza. I always tip delivery people but they really don’t deserve a tip just for making it. It’s their job. And those preset amounts are there to make you feel guilty.

It would be a shame if it was dropped.

How much do you tip when you order food from home and then pick it up at the window?

I was taught the tip should equal the tax on the meal. In Ontario that would be 13%

What happened to 10%? I’m so over over-tipping for workers who just do their job.

I always tip 20%, even for pick-up.

Along with these preset amounts, there’s also a cash tip jar.

if you have to pay it, it’s not a tip it’s a hidden cost

I prefer to tip in cash. If you don’t know why, you’re a bit slow.

I prefer to tip in cash, that’s to ensure they get it or get the message when they don’t get it.
