Ok somebodies did give us that action. Who? Which of you gun users and experts KNEW what was going to happen. We hoped and you got it right!! Ha ha on you Aaron. They guessed . It ain’t the last of Flask, by a long shot. First, she’s too important a character, likeable or not, to just toss off. Second, Petey should just about be back to the ship by now, and I’d bet he’ll have a thing or two to do about all this. The only real question is whether or not the ship concedes that’s she’s out and gone.

Flask, on hitting the ground : “Whimper.”

Petey shot Flask big. Bet she makes it though.

Maybe Aaron booby trapped the gun knowing Flask’s behavior. Aaron seemed a little too calm for someone who should be uncertain of the future.

Maybe this: There is a protective mechanism in the control room. Detonation weapons don’t work, they explode. Marx knew this piece of information but kept it to himself. His dittoes had told him Flask had a gun in there. He sent Wally in to kill her. He knew Wally would refuse to use the gun. Ergo, he knew Flask would blow herself up. Does that make sense? (No spoilers here, by the way. I’m making it up as I go along, and not using any inside information.) Now at least we can hope Wally takes the helm and gets them all the heck out of there. Rematerialise in some other, safe location, enjoy a nice, hot bath and have wine and cheesh delivered to the master bedroom. Oh, and pick up Petey and the brain. And Linda. End the story with: “You know, I’ve learned something today. I’ve learned… [fill in the blanks]”

We need some more votes! We’re lagging behind at Topweb. It’s a new month and some folks may be on vacation, but the rest of us should make the effort to vote and to vote often, or once a day anyways. Never can figure how they determine what a day is!

I think it was in the 1966 Matt Helm film The Silencers that there was a special trick gun. Pull the trigger and it fired backward at the wielder. Push the trigger forward and it fired normally. [Probably haven’t thought of that movie since I saw it.]

There are two dials on the gun. Maybe they were set to the opposite of safety and she didn’t check or understand the setting.

Gato, the fact that the window is flat means nothing for two reasons.1 Unless the curve is great, anything that looks curved from a distance can look flat up close.2. There’s been no windows seen in the corridor behind the bridge.

Blown out the window just in time for Petey to catch her. Or, what’s left of her, anyway.

Got panel 1 and 2 right. Not sure how much of her face got it for panel 3. Wally actually looks like he’s okay. . .relatively speaking anyway. He’s curled up in a ball and stuff is landing all around him. I agree with DAD, I’m willing to sacrifice Flask if it comes to it, need to keep Wally around.

She’ll be fine, as long as she lands on her feet.

Should Flask land on her feet, what good will that be? She’s a few hundred feet from the ground, and the impact would break her legs. Though Petey might zip by and catch Flask before impact.

My thought too – Petey can catch her on the way down. But she’s going to be in really serious condition after a blast like that! :O

I didn’t think that was a window…rather an odd place for one and no historical reference for it. If that’s a window, however, I would tend to agree with you. That area looks like a blob and not the square windows we’ve been seeing. I thought the windows we were seeing were on front of the aftcastle (?).

I can accept that. But, I can’t help but think the windows are a creature comfort for the carbon-based (or whatever) forms on board. Nobody is apparently controlling the ship, except for the AI and the dittos it controls. For the most part, the available free-floating screens should be enough to navigate by, as with drone aircraft (one doesn’t actually see the terrrain directly). Only easily bored, sighted creatures really need windows. I guess I see it as neither a ship nor an aircraft. It’s a vehicle that only needs a point of reference as to where to go. . . the AI does the rest. That said, I guess the windows could be anywhere, it really wouldn’t make much difference to the AI.

This allows Wally to assume command without having killed someone. Kind of a Deus Ex Machina, but I like it.

so the ship gathers junk, huh? I guess now we know why that gun was junk.

My only question is what sort of ammo is she using?

OH I hope it Back-fired! It’s almost hard to tell. looks like we need Petey to sweep in and save Wally and Holly before the topsiders fire.

Can’t make out panel 3 I guess that is Wally’s elbow just under his head?

Is it the gun that exploded, or it this a hit from the colony below?

I have my doubts if Petey would save her. I expect Wally comes trough OK. But if Flask lives she may need more than an eye-patch to go out in public.I guess if Wally is OK enough then he can get the ship’s AI to move the ship. I guess I was assuming he wouldn’t recover fast enough to do that.What a story.! It would be cool to have her body to put the brain inWhat would be really cool is to turn this into a movie!
