Okay, that’s officially WAY too much. That’s like an impractically large number of missiles. B-52s performing “Rolling Thunder” would be like “Dude, you’re overdoing it”.
The smoke stacks on the ship are weirdly placed. Don’t the engines usually sit in the middle of the ship for balance, and the stacks over them. This ship seems to have 4 engines???BTW clearly Holly could not have seen this, so not sure how this fits in the “this is Holly’s flashback” explaination.
I am going to be peeved if Aaron tries to suggest this was the Fitzgerald. The ship our team is on is an bulk freighter like the ones that carried iron ore across the great lakes. This is a container ship. The two don’t look anything alike.
Actually, the barrage could be chock full of all kinds of awful, as early on in the series it was stated all kinds of exotic physics had been weaponized and Allah only knows which ones might interact and cause bizarre effects that would make conventional nukes seem trifling.
Before anyone complains about it, we’re not seeing this part of the dittoMax show from Holly’s viewpoint. Whoever is directing this play is editing in other material.
Oh, so thats where the ship came from. So it isn´t Hollys background we are getting, but the ships. :)Also they might be overdoing the rockets just a tad …
I was thinking octopus, centipede or Millipore and dancing allover the launch board. Maybe a spider having an epileptic seizure! ( ooooooo, that’s bad,,,)
Nice touch, drawing a Flettner rotor ship / container ship. Poking around turned up a couple near matches:http://www.marineinsight.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/windagain.jpeghttp://www.thiiink.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Postbilag.jpegCheck out the articles, too…
http://www.gocomics.com/endtown/2015/11/23Those who think that we are looking at the Fitzgerald, might want to take a look at the link above which shows the group’s first encounter with that ship. The Fitz had a different shape, longer and skinnier and had squarer sides. The bridge was a lot lower than in this ship and there weren’t the rotating sail thingies. The top of the deck also had bulk cargo bins. A container ship would have to have a fairly flat deck with any protuberances being used to secure the containers.Wally and Holly notated the jet turbines on the Fitzgerald’s hull and assumed that it was a Lucranian flying ship (a variation of Marx’s vessel). It probably lost power and crashlanded into the dust.
I’d say those missiles are for taking out more than the cities. They seem to be striking the ship, too. A lot of them seem to be travelling low enough to take out sea-going vessels as well. The League seems determined to keep the virus from spreading by sea to them.
Regarding missiles hitting the ship and not exploding- For nukes and equivelent, they are usually fused to only explode when and where they are targeted for, so would be only inert impactors were they to hit something else.
America always gets the president they deserve, whether they like it or not. Sadly, voting these days usually involves picking the lesser of evils and dealing with the evil of the lesser who gets elected.
I finally found the word I was searching for: LUDICROUS! That is a ludicrously large number of missiles. Now everything can explode and I’ll explode happily knowing that I found the proper word to describe the situation.
I just noticed that the container ship doesn’t appear to be displacing a lot of water, despite being fully loaded. Perhaps the sails are also anti grav (which would explain why they’re in fours)? And if one of them gets knocked out by a stray missile…
Thanks for the explanation about the sails, all. As far as nukes go, they are way too low. in order to get maximum effect, they are set to go off above the target, usually far above.

And another batch of missiles from the other direction momentarily. It’s called mutually assured destruction, or MAD for short.

No it is not the Fitzgerald. This one has Flettner sails. Nice idea from Aaron. Looks more futuristic :)

Overkill, defined. Also impracticality defined, but it’s a story which deliberately takes a lot of license with reality. :)
