There are two more verses. "From good friends and true,From old friends and new,May good luck go with you,And happiness too.

How old are you now?How old are you now?How old, How oldHow old are you now?"

One verse is all our family can handle. We can’t sing a tune. We tried to just speak the words…came out all singsong it was worse.

The SCA version has countless verses.

(E.g.: “Now you’ve reached the age you are / Your demise cannot be far / Happy birthday / Happy birthday”, or “This one lesson you must learn / First you pillage, then you burn / Happy birthday / Happy birthday.”)

If she doesn’t like multiple verses she should be thankful that it’s not a Venezuelan birthday. They go through many, many birthday songs:

Actually…“Happy Birthday” has 19 verses! It was written in 1602 in The Seven Stars Pub in Holborn, London, by a group of sailors celebrating victory in the Battle of the Narrow Seas. It was Sir Robert Mansell’s birthday, and the sailors made up a song on the spot, each of them coming up with a new verse when it was their turn.
