By the way, found an old Erma Bombeck book at and old neighbour friends. Gawd! She was a funny writer. Could you imagine any of her books being converted to comic form?
Wait a minute, that’s a guys line. I’ve never heard a woman say that about something in the fridge. LOL Seriously though, it’s not time to throw it out until it’s fighting you.
While I do save leftovers, if you can’t remember when they were put in there, throw ‘em out. Sometimes there’s icky bacteria swimming in there without the mold to let you know they’re there.
I swear I have had this exact same conversation with my husband. I HATE throwing out food, or much of anything else for that matter because it “could be useful someday”. My hubby is into daily fridge cleaning.
You can’t eat anything two nights in a row. If it’s still there after two nights, it’s too old to eat. When I was working I used to take leftovers for lunch. If it was good the night before, it still tastes good at lunch the next day. No point in cooking enough for two meals at one time in this house.
WebSpider: Erma Bombeck is one of my favorites, too. I bought a hard back edition of four of her books in one called “Four of a KInd” at an estate sale. Also have beat up stained copy of her “I Hate to Cook Book” with easy recipes, written with wittiness between the recipes.
We rarely have leftovers in our house but if I came across something in my refrigerator that I couldn’t identify then it would have to be thrown out — moldy or not!

Mystery food. Everybody has it at one time or another. Hmmm, what to do with it is the question.

FlyinHeavy, that was my reaction too. I thought maybe the speech balloons got reversed somewhere.
On the other hand, maybe that’s because I’m a Yank and there’s some kind of cultural difference north of the border.
