No, MIchael. Rhetta is wet and uncomfortable and she just spent time while wet and uncomfortable cleaning out a car, when all she wanted was a ride home. The last thing on her mind is kissing you.

Mike must be in that Rodgers/Hammerstein musical from 1958 South Pacific (some enchanted evening).

Well,… Mike could say that he cleaned up on that date.

Here I am, a senior citizen and I can still experience that feeling of meeting someone new and interesting.

The real aspect is Dads car again is show room NEW!!

Despite what sourball adults say,teenagers can be pretty darned awkward on that first date.

Mike has a LOT to learn about girls. Rhetta seems a bit immatujre, herself. Ahhh, young love.

You can tell Rhetta TRULY cares about Michael! HE got her soaking wet and all SHE cares about is making sure he doesn’t get in trouble. <3

Not trying to be a spoiler, but near the end, didn’t he end up marrying Martha or someone else? In the meantime enjoy what is presently there!

How does one “clean out” a car that is soaking wet inside and probably has a whole lot of damaged electronics?

Mike was, at least, on the right track. When I was his age, I couldn’t take a hint if it were written on paper, wrapped around a brick, and I was donked upside the head, with it. Hm, come to think of it, I still can’t, a whole lotta years, later!

Michael and Rhetta have only had a short time together getting to know one another – for most of the time he was aware of her he thought her brother was a boyfriend – and a lot of that now has been soaking wet with feet squishing in shoes. Michael’s one previous girlfriend, Martha, betrayed him twice before he dropped her. He is not very impulsive, so it would be purely cartoon writing that would have him trying to get romantic.
