Andy: Before we go shopping, try these on. Jason: What are they? Andy: Peter's hand me downs. They're the clothes your brother wore back when he was in fifth grade. I figured if they fit, we could save some money. Jason: It's high time someone asked you a question... Peter: Lookin' good!

Not an improvement and the question is …

It’s reminding of the story where Peter Fox and Morton Goldthwait have the same polo shirt. (I’d skip the cap for Jason’s sake).

I used to get a neighbor’s son’s hand-me-downs.

sometimes our parents thought we were in vogue when they sent us out to school. secretly, i bet they were laughing their heads off in our clown clothes. i mean tan, corduroy vest, shoes with velcro, wide lapels on shirts, etc…? sometimes i wonder if it was better if we had uniforms.

My kids used to get each other’s clothes. Then they started borrowing mine. Now I get their hand-me-downs.

Maybe if Andy stopped spending her days looking for horrible recipes to foist off on the family and got a job they could afford school clothes. Not that there’s anything wrong with hand me downs, just saying—what does she DO all day?

“Like, why do you wear that stupid oversized cap all the time?”

Four boys, four different body types. Nothing to share. Except my sister could wear some of the blue jeans.

Could be worse. Read “The Blue Dress” by Patrick F. McManus sometime. There is a reason that Rancid Crabtree is so tough, yet he chooses a life as a solitary old mountain man…

I remember a young man in college, maybe 19, who never ever took his baseball cap off. His girlfriend once commented that he was embarrassed by his bald spot. =) Peter’s bald spot must have started early.

Whenever my sister and I looked at old family alums and laugh at the way we were dressed, my mom would get indignant and say something like, “I’ll have you know that you were the best dressed children on the street.” Well, at least in her opinion.

P.S. the clothes might have been out of style by the time Jason inherited them.Since then (the publishing of this strip) they have probably been back in and out of style several times.

Instead of hand-me-downs (no sister), a family friend would sew matching clothes for her daughter and me and we weren’t the same body types.

I had a friend in college who was only 5’-3" and weighed about 110 lbs. He used to get hand me ups from his younger brothers. he also looked much younger than he was. when he turned 21 he looked like he was 14. He is about 60 now and still looks considerably younger.
