When I would take my daughters in for their annual checkups, the doctor would yell at me for giving them whole milk. A couple of years ago they’ve changed their tune & now whole milk is recommended.
I grew up with watered down powdered milk. Skim is about as thick as I can stand. But, then I have friends who are the opposite: they can’t use anything less than cream – even on cereal!
“Reduced-fat and skim milk lose nutritional benefits when processed. Most producers then fortify their milk with solids to restore vitamins and thickness, although fortification is controversial.” So, better living through chemistry.
Not smart question from me, is that Peter bending over? For teens whole milk for growth; whereas my older age much lighter even my hubby drinks same skim milk as I do and no complaints.
“Skim” isn’t healthier, it’s basically just lactose sugar water. I literally can’t digest skim milk. I can only drink whole or 2% milk, less than that and I get severe stomach cramps that can last for hours, we found this out when I was a kid. Is that a type of lactose intolerance? The doctors speculated that the milk fat helps my body process it better.
It’s NOT healthier. That science has long since been bedunked, although a lot of “trained-back-then” doctors still promote it. And it’s certainly not worth drinking. Bleah.
when I used to stay with my grandparents on the farm after they quit farming they would use evaporated milk mixed with water and when I got there I would make them take a gallon jar to a neighbor farm and buy a gallon of milk right out of the cow for .50 cents for me.
After I read the description of how skim milk is made, it turned me off completely. Never again. Now there’s evidence coming out that whole fat dairy is actually best. Who do you believe?

I don’t do whole nor skim milk; I do 2% milk (and at times almond, cashew, or soy milks).

Skim milk is not milk — it’s water, with a tiny bit of milk in it for color.

Wondering why Andy would keep a milk that’s way past its expiration date. Oh, that’s right. It’s Andy after all.

I don’t see how milk would have lasted that long without Peter drinking it.

OK, then WHY did you still have it in the fridge?

When drinking whole milk be sure to get the whole story first!

I’ve become sensitive to most dairy products. I’ve tried almond milk in my coffee. It. just. doesn’t. work.

I drink skim, or as it’s called on the plastic jug, fat-free milk. I cook with whole milk.

Why do so many adults still drink baby food? It doesn’t even taste that good unless heavily adulterated.

You can drink it and chew it at the same time.

According to my sister, queen of nutrition info, the milk of choice for most people, including older kids, is 2%.

Why do we drink any kind of milk at all? After all, we are not cattle.
Oh. Now I see.

I was a whole milk fan before I went vegan. Milk is for babies, of all species.

I avoided skim for ages. Then I decided to alternate between skim and 1% so I’d develop a taste for the former without losing my taste for the latter.

You could have just told your son that the whole milk had gone sour. But where the fun in that right?

There is only one thing that I hate more than lying, and that’s skim milk. Which is water that is lying about being milk.
