I still ponder how I thought 93 pages was a big deal in my youth while today it’s no biggie. Same with writing.

If she’d try reading instead of crying, she could do the whole book in a day.

I never understand these events in which Page or Peter are clearly responsible for their own outcomes and then blame Jason.

It’s not the length of the book that matters, but your compulsion to turn the pages.

I hated being told what to read as a child. I get it: give the students a wide variety of styles so they can become more well-rounded and can decide what to read later in life. but it bored the Dickens out of me.

Don’t worry, Paige. When you’re in your 60s, none of that will have mattered. You won’t use most of the crap your learned in school. Heck, social media has proven that you won’t even use English class ‘learning’.

I remember being assigned to read Brave New World in high school, still have not finished it. Got a C-, just by asking classmates questions. Yet finished To Kill A Mockingbird and The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy in a couple hours.

Geez, that book wouldn’t last me more than a couple of days. I love to read, always have. I read at least one book per week, sometimes more.

As a history teacher, I rarely assigned longer readings but when I did (“1984”), I would post a running, daily “how much you need to read/day” to complete the assignment in the month plus given. Some students liked it, others not so much.

I read for fun, but not fast. I doubt I ever did more than 50 pages a day.

The only assigned book I enjoyed reading was “Kon Tiki” by Thor Heyerdahl. I just never understood how a translation of a book by an Norwegian Anthropologist could qualify as "English literature…
