I start my walk in the dark every morning. It’s on sidewalks overhung by low branches. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve taken a spider web in the face.

I does not happen in my driveway because at that point I combine my walking with “windmilling” my arms in a range of motion exercise. So far the windmilling has not caused cancer or killed any whales. Unfortunately, that exercise only last a fraction of the total walk.

Maybe I can invent headgear that has a prow in front of it, sort of like a cowcatcher on an old style locomotive.

When I’m the first on a trail, or not on a trail, I just hold or swing a stick in front as I walk.

People are asking us to stop using fake spiderwebs for outdoor Halloween decorations, because small critters are getting trapped in the webs.
