The Pope called for Ukraine to seek a truce and negotiations with Russia. He didn’t call for Russia to do the same. He said that Ukraine continuing to fight was like committing suicide. That to me is an egregious error and downright disgusting. Ukraine was attacked by Russia. He should be chastising Russia and calling for them to withdraw. He is a complete a$$ for calling on Ukraine to ask for a truce.
I can understand Pope Pius’ XII being soft on fascism. The Vatican was surrounded by a fascist state, and Mussolini paid homage to him mainly to placate the vastly Catholic population.
What is Francis’ excuse? Why is he backing a nation whose policy is to attack civilians, hospitals, schools, apartment complexes: in other words, things considered by the civilized world as acts of terrorism?
Peace at any price did not work in 1939 with Hitler. There is no reason why we should believe it will work today with Putin. I doubt that Ukraine is his “last territorial demand.”

It takes more courage. Bibi is certainly lacking in that department.

I think the Pope may be wrong on this particular call.

The spiritual plane is trying to communicate with our hard reality.

Tough decision by Pope Francis since most countries other than Russia oppose it! Russia has never kept their word in any negotiations.

Negotiating with Putin is worse than trying to negotiate with the Devil.

Well he can have peace. Peace of mind that absolutely nether side wants him involved regardless of what he thinks he is doing.
