My one granddaughter is fixed on emojis but they are as foreign to me as the Indian alphabet. The difference is the alphabet is interesting, the emojis, not so much.

Communication has come a full circle: Pictograms to words to pictograms.
Similarly, parental concerns about “kids these days” are repeated every generation.
