Poor kid. Maybe for next Father’s day she could buy Dad a chimney starter. I’ve got one and it works a treat: from cold bricquets to red-hot coals in 15-20 minutes with no other effort from me than a match at the beginning.

Supino Pizza is not a chain, but a single location in Detroit’s Eastern Market. It has been consistently voted best in Detroit. Supino is the name of the village in Italy that the owner’s grandfather is from and coincidentally my wife and in-laws as well. Great pizza! It deserves the plug.

If marherita is an available option, you should just always choose it!

Our community recently had a pot luck pizza bake in our local brick oven. We all brought something from our garden, including homemade sauces, pesto, etc., and one person made goat cheese. Salads and appetizers were all also locally grown. Add the homemade sourdough pizza dough, and it was excellent meal!!

If only Romney would have won, then health insurance for everyone. (Or so he said during the last election.) Ok, maybe not that exactly, but he did come out in favor of the repub. party. Sorry for getting political on everyone. Papa started it. Now let me be the first to say I am 100% wrong, my apologies, and thank you to all future posters for clearing that up for me.

Does Supino’s deliver? I’m a little northeast of San Francisco, near Napa.

“But their pizza is awful anyway.”.That’s my main reason for avoidance! There are places with decent food I avoid for their policies towards their employees. Pizza is so easy to get right or at least decent that it amazes me how horribly some places do.

Very few things can be bought that are as good as pizza from a local pizzaria, where they don’t have to rely on across-the-country recipes and cookie-cutter ingredients designed to pump up profits rather than quality and flavor. I love all styles of pizza: Margherita, white, Chicago(!), California, etc… And bigpuma, in most cases I feel that pepperoni should be avoided, but if you find a place that uses good quality sausage (rather than that cheap, fatty stuff), the pepperoni pizza is anything but pedestrian.

I’m a purist. Real pizza doesn’t have meat on it. Mozzarella, tomatoes (or tomato sauce), garlic, a little olive oil and fresh basil if you’ve got it, all spread out over a thin, crispy crust. A light sprinkle of oregano and red pepper before serving, and that’s it. Anything more than that is overkill.

I’ve had grilled pizza. A restaurant in town does it at the farmer’s market. It’s great! New Haven apizza is baked in a charcoal oven, which is illegal in California, so this is as close as it gets.

Supino’s is the best pizza around, and Frazz is right- order the Margherita. It is fantastic!
