Oh I dunno. A really HORRIBLE pun, particularly one that requires obscure knowledge is always welcome. Though the 18th IS MLK day (his birthday was the 15th).
Of course if Mallett can’t make a good one, there’s no chance I’ll be able to.
Martin has, in fact, made electric guitars; besides the D-28E, which was just a D-28 with a pick-up stuck through the top, in the early ‘60s they made the F-50, F-55 , and F-65, which were thin-line hollowbodies, and ’79-’82 they made the E series solid-bodies.
Neither line was a commercial success, but for my money (having played examples of both lines) both are seriously under-rated.
Mr. Mallett really got me with that joke. Now I think I’ll go out and enjoy this sunny afternoon. (After all, it won’t last all day and all of the night.)

doesn’t work because the pronunciation of luthier doesn’t sounds anything like luther

Unless you’re Stephan Pastis, in which case every day is that day.

Talk about reaching—and glad you really didn’t . . we’d have thought it was some recent Frank and Ernest for a minute . .

Pastis is my favorite cartoonist. I love his stupid humor…and all his characters!

JMHO … This might not be the year to make light of MLK and the principles for which he stood.

You have to know about Dave Davies and The Kinks to get this.

No, it doesn’t. And I think less of Mallett for making it.

How about jazz player Kaki King? Though she mostly plays Ovations. Or King Crimson, King Buzzo (Melvins,) BB, Freddie or Albert King…
