A scene from a movie whose title eludes me at the moment. Every citizen is an Olympic quality athlete. One is asked to take a message to someone on the other side of a lake. Someone asks how far it is. “Well, this way is ten miles, but I know a shortcut that’s only 16.” “How is that a short cut?” “That way I get a running start.”

Just like Miss Plainwell, who has never raced her boyfriend(or allowed it).

They’re special

Runners have a specific goal, something that is lacking for lots of us.

Except the fact that a 5k is only 3.1 miles. A 10k is 6.2 miles.

Her initial statement is ridiculous … but if it works for her – great.

I run…if I’m being chased.

Isn’t a marathon 26 miles?

I didn’t understand the difference between ‘pushing through the wall’ and running into a wall. Got the hang of pouring cold liquid over my head but the Gatorade tended to stain everything.

“I’m going push myself to the limit, suffering exhaustion and pain as well as lasting back & knee damage – because it’s fun!”
