Sickest I’ve ever been from restaurant food was a LONG time ago in Albuquerque when I ordered a chile relleno and was served a bell pepper stuffed with mexican style dirty rice, all smothered with straight-out-of-the-can tomato soup. I never did like stuffed peppers (though I love chiles rellenos) and that just made it final. I’ve never eaten another.
Her mom is not wrong. But being a prosperous civilization does give us a lot of choice about what we eat. I just ate some almonds and they are not native to anyplace near me.
When my mother quit hr job to go back to school we started eating stuffed peppers. We also had pancakes for dinner occasionally. I rather liked them both. Lima beans, however, were a matter.

As a child I liked stuffed green bell peppers. But I didn’t eat the pepper. Now I’ll eat what ever is cooked!

Didn’t Calvin’s mother tell him they were stewed monkey brains? I wonder how that would work with real kids?
