    Fred, you have to understand that in addition to being awkward, your rear end is very heavy so he’s battling to keep your rear from falling plus keeping your back from being hurt. Cut poor Dear some slack.

    I carried my dog on an escalator just the once. Never again, from now on it’s the stairs or a lift.

    About how much does a Basset weigh? I haven’t known all that many of them but I know they are significantly larger than my 40 pound Welsh Corgi and 45 pound Bull Terrier were, let alone my 25 pound Dachshund. We have a 70 pound Greyhound now, but because of radically different designs, I think it would be very difficult to compare them.
