But isnā€™t that par for golfers to fudge the details?

Fred, golf is a game where the balls lie poorly and the golfers lie well!

Love much how Mrs. Dear is drawn in this strip. Getting from being not much interested to annoyed and extremely bored in the last panel. I certainly know her feelings from when colleagues bragged. ;-D

To use a phrase which became popular in 1980s Britain, ā€œEconomical with the truthā€.

Why does this golfing story seem so familiar?

Read the book, by Rick Reilly, ā€œCommander In Cheatā€, about how the fat traitor who wants to become dictator of the US cheats at golf, every time he plays!

Iā€™m pretty sure that when she walks away like that, itā€™s a sign that sheā€™s not interested in the story, not a sign to follow her and keep telling it.

Mrs. Dear shows as much interest in Mr. Dearā€™s narrative as he would show in her relating of a ā€˜Ladies Aidā€™ meeting at the church ! ! !

Reminds me of my uncle. He died at the age of 89 in his home that was built near a golf course in southern Florida. I used to visit him every year and go out on the course with him. He couldnā€™t play worth a darn. But heā€™d been playing golf for 65 years and was out there on that course three or four times a week. He loved itā€¦I never got it.

    Gosh, heā€™s finally happy today.

And Iā€™m finally back on the internet, after a major outage from our ā€œserviceā€ provider.
