I love the cartoon and wonder if Bill Whitehead ever read E. M. Forster’s short story THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HEDGE, which is about the ‘race’s’ finishing line.

Chubby little buggers, aren’t they?

Sadly they missed the second turn and the human race has been off track ever since.

And we’ve been under the gun ever since.

They really do look free range.

God should have had better aim

You should never run right after Eden.

The race is fixed.

It would appear that the start of the human race would not be trying to outrun the other person …

Despite being the only species involved we are losing the race.
