Re Blog: Can’t wait to read Bob Stockton’s book " Listening To Ghosts ". It has gotten very good reviews.I’m a little worried about his next book. The picture of Emperor Norton I bears an uncanny resemblance to moi. Did Bob, perhaps, sneak a picture of me leaving my Ballard Street abode on Whimsical Wednesday ? Just asking ?

The “Mormon Octopus” hate literature on the blog is highly reminiscent of anti-Semitic imagery that flourishes even today. Do a Google image search for “Zionist Octopus” and you’ll find numerous examples.

Meanwhile, I’m very pumped up to see Spectreman on the blog. He was one of my childhood favorites, and as I type these words, there is a tin wind-up Spectreman toy within my field of vision.

    Fun Spectreman trivia:

    1. In Japan, the series was originally named for Spectreman’s enemy: The show debuted as “Space Apeman Gori,” and was later renamed “Space Apeman Gori vs. Spectreman,” and finally just “Spectreman.”

    2. The Spectreman theme song is in the same key as The Who’s “Pinball Wizard,” and the two songs’ guitar intros sound almost identical.

    3. Spectreman carried a strong environmentalist message, with many episodes focusing on pollution as a serious problem for humanity.

yoko meshi – “horizontal rice”. Since Japanese was traditionally written vertically, and from right to left, reading horizontally and from left-to-right is stressful. By analogy, learning a foreign language is similarly disconcerting.

    Latter-day Saint statistics:

Total Membership1898: 267,2512011: 14,441,346  Converts1898: 6,0002011: 281,312 Full-time Missionaries1898: 2,0002011: 55,410 full time, plus 22,299 service missionaries Despite the calumny and continual publication of anti-Mormon literature, the growth of the Church continues exponentially; in fact, the more they publish, the faster the Church seems to grow. Whatever your spiritual walk in life, regardless of the source from which you draw your strength – be it humanist or as a member of a community of believers, two simple guidelines suffice in a world that works for everyone: 1. Don’t be a dick2. Promote what you love, don’t bash what you hate. The Old Wolf has spoken.

RICHARD WILKINSONAll the time that’s elapsed since my post above was on a sidetrack from this blog entry. I recognized several of the birds as corvids (the family of birds with Jays, Crows and Magpies in it). And there were hummingbirds and everything else looked more or less neotropical so I was trying to ID them but as time was slipping away, I gave up. Fun wile it lasted though. Why, yes, I’m a birder. Lapsed from hard core to casual.

I must compliment the person behind the “Street Art” on the Blog. Compelling image. It shows many characteristics of a worthy sketch: it’s realistic, it shows weight, and it contains an attitude, not only of the subject, but of the artist. Make what you will of the subject’s attitude, the artist accepts and honors it through the arresting and honest portrayal.

Please don’t be put off with that which follows.Know nothing of Mormonism, and have no desire to become an adherent to any organised religion, and have no problem with your views.Tolerance for all.Been there, done that, with organised religion.Personally believe religions to be like flags, as they tend to only create divisions among people. If those who wish to find God wish to do so in houses of worship, this is fine.,but truly believe God to have 3 attributes-omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence, and God does not need a house built by human hands to reside in. Believe belief in God to be a truly “imside job” for us all to work on, individually, and share beliefs with others, listening to their views respectfully, and trying to gain an understanding of the best teaching of all spiritual views.Believe the notion of “the more ingredients, the better the stew”. We have it on good authority, and believe you would agree, that the"kingdom of God is within". We are to be judged by how much of God there is within us. How clean our own personal temple is. Wish to make the tabernacle of my body the closest approximation possible of the best of all religions as believe all religions to be based on universal spiritual principles.Where we all catch hell is when we listen to the fundamentalists and dogmatists who divide us-you know-“my way or the highway”. We’re really in deep excrement here. Also at the point of where the bashing you speak of rears its ugly head. Will do my utmost to adhere to rule#1, and hope all others will do likewise. Have the greatest respect for the 2 rules given. They are beyond reproach.Realise that Frog Applause is a fun place, and enjoy the great stuff here, but every now and then express some views, as you have done, and has been done by me.Hope that those looking for some light-hearted fun (me, too) have not been put off by my response to you. Felt the need to speak to your post, and don’t believe that just because “it’s just a comic strip” should cause it to be viewed as any less of a legitimate comment forum than any other on the web.Thank you for your post.

Thank you for the kind words. Was hoping that the post would not be offensive to -you, but your post struck some chord in me ,and the rest just flowed. Please know that the rules will be with me from this time forward, especially #1-need to be a little vigilant here. Harbor no hate towards any.Absolutely honor your Mormon views-have never known one personally-and know nothing of Mormonism-and was glad you did not take my post as an attack on your faith._We’re all trying to find the author of Love in our own way.We are all brothers-One-from the same source and returning to same.Best wishes and thank you.
