Freaky. Chicks have an ‘egg tooth’ on the tip of the upper beak that normally falls off sometime after hatching. This monstrosity has the dentition of a dogtooth characin fish (Hydrolycus species; “hydrolycus” is supposed to mean “water-wolf” in Greek). Chickens do still have the genes to grow conical, crocodile-like teeth, but the naturally-occurring mutation that allows tooth growth prevents the embryo from developing into a healthy chick.

That must be a budding young rooster, because hen’s teeth are rare.

You did. It’s all over but the shouting. But you should know. This isn’t going to go easy. The cops won’t be friendly, to you or to me. Flipper owned them. He’s been a rising star for a while. That’s why he had you guys cleaning up his basement when he moved up from the Cat Jugglers. He’s got people above him who can make things happen. Or did, anyway.”

This brings a whole new connotation to “being on the cheep” ….

Nothing so rare as hens teeth.

That chick looks like some kind of weird mutant throwback to its raptor ancestors. —Just the chick for the Easter Basket that you give to your best former friend!

The one to viewer’s left is a bit awestruck. Hey little guy, all things are possible in Froglandia….

Gloom and doom
