TV: VROOOOOOM. SCREEEEECH! KA-CHOW! KA-CHOW! KA-CHOW! KA-CHOW! POW! POW! AAAGGH! BOOOOOOOM!!!
Liz: Can we watch MY show for a while?
Jon: Sure!
TV: Oh, my dearest...
Jon: SNOOOORRE.
My suggestion for chick flicks: whenever a character makes his or her last appearance and will no longer be appearing, have the character walk around a corner only to be messily devoured by a T. rex, or have Klingons beam down, disintegrate the character with phasers, and then beam back up, etc.
I think a lot of the guys need all those explosions to keep them from noticing there is no story. There was a joke that Jerry Bruckheimer blew up a train in “The Lone Ranger” because he couldn’t blow up a horse. (With that film, they should have blown up the cameras.)Just as long as something is going ka-boom…
My mother-in-law and I had this discussion and it actually made sense. She was a stay-at-home mom at 20, had a very tame, strict upbringing in the 50’s and 60’s, and pinched a lot of pennies. She likes watching shows and movies that “could” happen, even if it’s not very likely. I explained to her that guys like watching stuff that couldn’t happen, but sure as hell wish did! We agree on maybe 2% of shows and movies, but we at least understand why.
I’m a 60+ plus female and I will take an action flick most any day over a sappy love story. Some love stories are great, but mostly the action and scifi win me over first.

Men are just old little boys. No offence intended because the love is there too.

The best way to deal with a chick flick is with C4. ;)

I’ll never get back the time I spent watching “The Great Gatsby” back in the ’70s. The only interesting part was the neat cars.
