Hah! After my nitpick yesterday about the conflict between the shadow and the perceived lighting (actually, the colorization) in the hallway, Satch tells us the bulb’s burnt out! But I assumed that Darby does the strips in black and white, and that someone else colorized them for this web site. My assumption was based on a recollection from a couple years ago that another artist did/does the same, though I don’t remember if that was here on GoComics, or That Other Site That Merged With It.

I have never so badly wanted to be able to draw!
