What Descartes did not grasp or understand is that the absence of thinking simply means the absence of mental word flow therefore revealing the absolute nature of the mind and our consciousness that exists beyond concepts and language…does not in any way mean a person is not. I am therefore I think comes first. The fear factor is that once a person has this experience without understanding its essential nature one interprets the experience as disturbing. Like seeing grasslands for the first time from within a jungle habitat.Wrap yer head around that, pilgrim…And Satchel proves the point in the end panel where he drifts away from Buck-eyes dialogue because of its dependence upon words.Brilliant work Darby.Up les Habitants!
Perceiving yourself does imply your existence, but it does not establish the nature of your existence. In particular, it does not establish whether your existence is dependent or independent. If something possesses an independent existence, then it exists independent of any perception of its existence, but something that is merely dependently existent exists only in the perception of the perceiver. If the perceiver ceases to perceive such an object, it ceases to exist. For example, if you are a theist, you might conjecture that everything only exists in the Mind of God, and not in and of itself. You would never know the difference. Your thoughts themselves would merely be a part of God’s perceptions…

I think Bucky doesn’t understand this stuff, therefore I am.

He had a tragic death. He was run over crossing a street in Paris, thus proving you should never get Descartes before the horse.

I prefer “I feel, therefore I am.”

I heard that he was at a party, and the host asked him if he wanted another drink. He said “I think not.” and disappeared.

Has Satch ever met A Boy Named Sue?

There appears to be a hole in conscious awareness. But that’s all right. It’s all good. If it works for you then “Go Brandon!”.

Bucky nice of you to push Satchel’s reset button ;-)

Bucky has made Satchel’s head explode. He needed to reboot his OS.

Did Bucky and Satchel switch roles for the sake of the punchline?

According to Monty, Rene Descartes was a drunken fart: ‘I drink, therefore I am.’

Amazing! One is a Shakespearian-Einstein philosopher while the other is more dense than the London fog!

In English, a name that ends in a vowel is feminine or a boy’s nickname.

While it’s true that thought presupposes some type of existence, existence doesn’t care what you think.

Satchel, duct tape Rob’s phone onto Bucky’s back, then hide and call the phone…
Dragoncat about 3 years ago
I’ve never heard Bucky talk so… philosophically. No wonder Satchel’s brain had a shut-down. At least he survived the reboot.
