There was a time when Andy Capp spoke in British slang. I was seven, it was 1966 and I didn’t have the Internet to try to figure out what was being said.
I love the character Max Manc McManx, just the way he talks, the cockney that I learned was from “My Fair Lady” and “The Bugaloos”, Mac’s modern cockney is harder to understand for Yank ears, but so much fun to read.

He could always be “Bob.” No uncles in this strip that I’ve seen.

If I want to hear foreign-sounding gibberish, I can turn on the financial channel.

What is a “Barmcake”?

“Boocky” must be someone important! After all, “Boogaloo” is one of Ringo’s nicknames for Sir Paul!!
