Well Gabby, remember: “He who doesn’t learn from history is doomed to repeat it.” (OK, I’m not sure how that applies here, now that I see it written out … but I thought it made sense at the time.)
I thought it was Latin that doomed the Roman Empire, not Roman numerals? At least that was the conclusion of innumerable high school students (but not me, my high school offered it but I took German). Isn’t there a poem about that (I have no idea of the rest of it or who the author was): “First it killed the Romans, and now it’s killing me”.
