oh, doesn’t anyone remember the days when you had to walk up to the telly set and manually turn it on, change the channel, adjust the volume and all that?

No wonder Mom is in such a great mood in both panels.

Sigh. I remember when we got our first TV (black and white). I was almost 5 and it was magic! Mom would let us watch an hour before bed if our homework and chores were all done. We would watch Star Trek (the original), Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, Walt Disney, Bugs Bunny Show, Red Skelton, etc. The really good stuff.

There are buttons on the remote that are not on the TV keypad. The remote has a mute button that can only be reset with a remote.

The batteries are outside, at the nearest convenience store. Or go watch TV at Dean’s house.

Anyone remember the opening scene for “The Outer Limits?” That authoritative voice that began, “There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. WE will control transmission…”

And now, it’s all so true; THEY are in control, and we don’t even realize it.

Cancel the cable for the Summer Mom, then Heart will have to go out.
