    He’s definitely not a D.I.Y parent.

The word you’re looking for is ‘absentee’, buddy.

I keep saying it, but, “deadbeat”.

I made sure I let my son have freedom as a child, and he never abused it (but came close several times). He grew up responsible, well mannered and educated.

The dad in ‘HOTC 1.0’ was depicted as absentee and kind of a deadbeat, but I’m trying to forget that and keep an open mind to HOTC 2.0’s version of Heart’s dad. The fact he is actually doing something with Heart is a significant change. I think they’re going to have a heart-to-heart talk over the next few days (pardon the pun).

Your mom and not grandmother or grandma. Must not have a very close relationship. Just because Dad is absent doesn’t mean grandparents have to be.

This really is a thing today, where Millenial and Gen Z parents will have been raised by strict Boomers and Gen X, so they’ll want to do the opposite and just let their kids do whatever. The problem is, they don’t let then just muck around in the bush (which comprised 99% of my childhood) and instead let them muck around on social media and technology, which is in fact even more dangerous and much less fun.
