With the cambium and phloem disrupted, the tree is doomed. (I KNEW learning that stuff in seventh grade would come in handy someday.)

(And speaking of learning stuff in seventh grade, @linguist, try “I’d have had her stand under it” or even “I’d’ve had her stand…”, but not “I’d OF…”.)

You can hammer nails with the back end of an ax. That’s why it’s flat.

@pschearerYou Yanks say it any way you chose. Sometimes, my Northern Irish comes out, and I write as I speak. BTW, my sentence was grammatically correct, since it was idiomatic.

@Simon_Jester You’re correct, and I hate grammar Nazis ! My sobriquet comes from my ability to get by in several languages. I don’t keep Strunk & White by my bedside nor do I make any claims to be a grammarian.I do write, ( occasionally, even getting paid ), and firmly believe that is what God made editors for.
