I remember as a kid we’d go to Jones Beach, and on the walk from the parking lot to the beach, there was a stretch where hundreds of large dragonflies would be zipping around right overhead. Regardless of my parents reassuring me they were harmless, I was totally convinced that their long body was a giant stinger, and I just knew I was gonna die. (never did get stung, tho, and I lived to tell the tail… er… tale!)
